Natural Transplantation Conditioning

To help your stem cells produce, proliferate, implant, differentiate, multiply, and otherwise become "all that they can be" -- we utilize a multitude of internal and external modalities which include, but are not limited to hyperbaric oxygen, hypoxic therapies, intravenous and injection therapies, magnetic therapies and external counterpulsation.

There are many ways of giving stem cells. Of course, the most obvious and easiest is just to thaw out a vial of cells and inject them intravenously. This most simple method works well if:

  1. The type of stem cells is correct for the tissue(s) you are trying to repair.
  2. If the injury has occurred within the last two weeks.
  3. If the disease is active.
  4. If the tissue is acutely ischemic. i.e. lacking adequate blood flow -which causes hypoxia i.e. low levels of oxygen.

Note, that ideally, the injury would have occurred within the last two weeks. However, most patients don't know about stem cells when they have their stroke, heart attack or spinal cord injury. Only years later while searching for additional help for their injury do they discover the potential benefits of stem cells for their condition. Often at that time the injury has long since healed in the sense that the blood vessels supplying the injured tissues have healed and no longer have the stem cell attachment signals needed to draw stem cells to and into the damaged tissues.

So What Can Be Done To Get Stem Cells To Repair Old Injuries?

For the person whose injuries are old (i.e. more than a few weeks old) the blood vessels that supply blood to the damaged organ must somehow be instructed to express stem cell adhesion molecules. These adhesion molecules make the inner lining of the blood vessels of the damaged tissue more "sticky" so that stem cells will attach there and nowhere else. Once they have attached, the physical union of the stem cell with the adhesion molecule sets off a set of enzymes, which are released from the stem cell that helps the stem cell digest its way into the damaged tissues. Once inside the damaged tissue, the stem cells begin to multiply and gradually form the replacement tissues we are hoping to form.

The secret of success with the old injury type of case revolves around the blood vessels that supply that damaged organ or tissue. These blood vessels became narrowed, constricted and never did heal correctly so they are unable to supply the damaged organ with a proper blood supply. The reason is that oxygen is carried from the lungs to the tissues within the red blood cells. These cells are what make your blood red (more bluish when depleted of oxygen and more red when fully oxygenated). They have a diameter of 5 microns and when the blood vessels become restricted in size down to 3 microns or less due to the stroke, heart attack, trauma, etc., the oxygen carrying red cells cannot wiggle through to the damaged tissues.

This restricted blood flow causes hypoxia or a lack of oxygen in the damaged tissues. Hypoxia prevents the damaged tissues from repairing themselves. Cells need oxygen to make the energy necessary to power the cells regenerative processes. With the cells' regenerative energy producing factories not working, the damaged tissues fall "asleep" and are not able to function.

It takes energy to make adhesion molecules - and these sleeping cells simply don't have enough energy to make them, due to the deficiency of oxygen in which they live. As the stem cells move through the blood looking for things to heal, they need to find the adhesion molecules that will draw them into the damaged tissues. If these adhesion molecules are not expressed on the blood vessels, then the stem cells slide right on by and circulate until they find some other damaged area to attach to or they may just lodge in the fat where their healing power is lost.

To get these damaged tissues producing stem cell adhesion molecules, first we have to get some energy built up in the cells. We can do this with hyperbaric oxygen given twice a day for the first day of our therapy program. On that same day external counterpulsation is used to stress the damaged blood vessels and to up-regulate various growth factors such as VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor). Pulsed electromagnetic therapy, ultrasound, intermittent ischemia, Ondamed, hyperthermia, intravenous solutions, growth factors, etc. are applied to the damaged tissues or body to begin to stimulate the expression of the adhesion molecules. All of these are not done for each patient but each has to be selected specifically for the individual's particular problem. These are used for three days prior to the actual stem cell transplant and may also be used for a few days after.

All of these modalities have been shown in clinical use and/or scientific studies to assist your body's production or use of stem cells.

Beware Of The Various Claims

WARNING: There are many companies claiming to have developed a special substance, laser, antibody, nutrient, algae, etc. that directs the stem cells to their target areas. I have not seen any of these that actually work (though I continue to look forward to finding one that actually does what the seller claims). Having a stem cell lab, as we do, is what is needed to test these various claims. Unfortunately, no-one will fund the needed testing to demonstrate that a certain remedy does or does not work as the seller was hoping (and often hyping) about. To do this type of testing is one of the many reasons we need financial help. If work like this is not done, you will be at the mercy of every rip-off artist who is more than happy to tell you that they have discovered the one and only miracle that will mobilize your stem cells, move them to the right place and repair everything all at a bargain price! You will neither be able to prove or disprove their claims, but with desperation, shell out the hundreds upon hundreds of dollars they ask on a hope and a prayer. You need the facts, and only unbiased lab studies will give you those facts. The government is not going to do this except after you have been bilked out of your money and thousands like you complain enough. This whole process takes about three years before the FTC and the FDA shut down the various schemes but in the meantime you and thousands of others are out your money and your hopes have been dashed by the lack of results on the product.
